Where did the inspiration for the UnOrthoDOKS knee exoskeleton come from?

The inspiration came from a difficult situation. My mother developed knee arthritis when I was in my 20’s. I watched her deal with knee pain, reduced mobility and multiple co-morbidities over a period of 10 years, which ultimately led to her passing away in 2020. At that time I could not find any tool that allowed her to exercise in the comfort of her own home on her own terms. I realized that there was a clear need for devices that could empower people like my mother to get started with targeted exercise, and to lead an active lifestyle.
